Black Women & NAACP

A while ago I wrote a blog about how I felt like Tyra Banks was being too nonchalant about a very serious issue in the black community; the rate at which children are born out of wedlock which is at a whopping 73%!!!

To my surprise, there was a lot of response to this particular post but most of the responses were from black women who felt like I was being judgemental of those very black women who were having chidren out of wedlock. Now, I undertsand how it may seem that way (that I am being judgemental), but what I want to say is that we can not change what we do not acknowledge. If everytime someone speaks about issues that need our attention, we get offended, how can we possibly resolve the issues?

On that note, I ‘d like to recognize a fellow blogger who has had the courage to, inspite of the backlash, speak out about the issue of single parent homes in the black community. You can read her article here.
