Kenya Moore’s Grandmother Who Raised Her After Mother Rejected Her Passes Away

Kenya Moore is enduring a time of bereavement after losing a vanguard of stability in her life who has been there for her since the reality television star was a very small child.

Moore, 46, a co-star on the Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) lost Doris Grant, her paternal grandmother, to Alzheimer’s Disease. This past Monday (July 24th), Moore announced the death of the woman she affectionately called “momma” on Instagram.

“My grandmother who raised me from 3 days old passed away,” Moore posted in her heartfelt message on Instagram. “She has helped mold me into the woman I am. She truly was my best friend,” she continued.

Moore’s biological mother Patricia abandoned her when she was three days old.

At one time during an episode of RHOA, Moore’s father Ronald appeared on the set to tell her that Patricia abandoned Moore in order to prevent salvaging the relationship she had with her own father.

In 1993, Moore was awarded one of the highest national beauty pageant honors that a woman can receive in the United States. She won Miss USA at the 42nd annual competition, which was televised live.
