Mindful Mornings: Determination by Iyanla Vanzant

Today I completed my first 10K (a little over 6 miles) after having fallen off of the wagon.

In just over two weeks, I will run my first 10K marathon and I was starting to think about backing out because of my lack of preparation thus far. Today, I decided NOT to quit. This short message from Iyanla Vanzant was just what I needed!

I hope it inspires you to do that “thing” that you were about to quit.

Just what I needed too! I been running a different kind of marathon for the past six months, a journey undertaken when I found myself at the crossroads of life, faced with the inevitable need to change and expand my horizons as well as escape a bad stretch in life.To be honest its been kind of getting harder and harder these past few weeks, towards the end, at the final conceptualisation and selling of the idea. Fatigue came in the form of flagging hope borne by the resistance to change by the involved stakeholders. The resulting brooding moments of self-reflection and the resultant inertia were a huge challenge to be overcome, a struggle akin to if not worse than a mental block. But with the right self motivation persevered by learning to consciously manage the creative dynamic tension that comes with facing the storms of your life to reach the rainbow beyond, and i’m happy to say one morning, voila! I was back up and running again! I just had to shift my perspective and shift from the negative to the positive!
